Broadband Guide

Whatever your connection requirements Webz4Biz has a package for you. Ideal for home office or a networked office environment, our light packages offer cost effective solutions without compromising on quality whilst our max packages are suitable for gamers or users requiring more bandwidth allowance for ftp, video streaming and more.

The Jargon

ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a form of DSL, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone wire. Broadband can be ADSL or Cable - ADSL being the most common.

Connection Speed - Expressed as Kbps or Mbps (Kilobytes or Megabytes per second), this is the potential speed of the connection. Most packages state that download speeds are 'up to..' as this is affected by many factors including the proximity of the connection to the BT exchange, quality of the line etc.

Bandwidth Transfer/ Allowance - This represents the amount of information in Megabytes/ Gigabytes that you are allowed to download on a per month basis.

Router - a device that can connect several computers to a single DSL line.

Filter - separates two types of signal - an analogue (phone) signal and a digital (broadband) signal which are both carried at different frequencies, enabling you to connect to ADSL and a telephone line at the same time.

Which Package?

With download speeds of up to 8Mbps*, rate adaptive ADSL packages can be ordered as either MAX or MAX Premium variants, each with a different maximum upstream speed. You can choose from:

Pay-As-You-Go

For customers who may not use the Internet regularly but when they do they require the fastest speeds available. This package has a set monthly charge which includes 1GB of bandwidth transfer. Each additional 1GB of bandwidth used thereafter is chargeable in arrears at a competitive rate.

Allowance

For customers requiring greater levels of bandwidth usage, MAX and MAX Premium Allowance packages provide connectivity with inclusive bandwidth ranges. MAX Allowance is available in a range of options from 3GB/30GB (peak/off peak) to 210GB/480GB. MAX Premium Allowance is available in options ranging from 5GB/45GB (peak/off peak) to 360GB/510GB. You can easily regrade from one Allowance option to another as and when your usage requirements alter.

Extreme

For regular Internet users who require the fastest speeds available without any usage restrictions we offer MAX and MAX Premium Extreme, with unlimited usage for a set monthly fee.

Non-rate adaptive ADSL

Our range of 'legacy' products enable unlimited access in a choice of connection speeds and are non-rate adaptive. Available at download speed options of 512Kbps (rate adaptive), 1Mbps and 2Mbps these products are particularly suitable for customers intending to bond connections to achieve faster fixed rate connectivity.
